This piece is from my Basics of Design class, and I believe it is my most interesting and hardest to make from the class. The assignment was to make lead drawn pattern that incorporates texture and line. It was so hard to make because I couldn’t understand the parameters of what I could and couldn’t draw, as the assignment was rather vague. But through hard work, research, and testing, I eventually made this this delightful abstract design. I started by drawing several wavy lines on both the vertical and horizontal of the page, creating a grid of oblong squares. I then connected the corners of each square through more wavy lines, creating four quadrants on each. On the right quadrants I used soft lead to fill them to be as black as possible. The top and bottom are light gray by means of a harder lead, and I left the left square white.
