Tombstone Blues MUSIC VIDEO by Kiss Me Saint Cloud

I was asked by a friend of my brother’s to develop a music video for his band. Tombstone Blues is the most recent song from Kiss Me St. Cloud, so he wanted to give it the royal treatment. I met with the bands lead guitarist, Liam König, and over the next 2 months we worked together to bring this video to life.

I came up with the basic concept on first listen of the song, a morose man stumbling through the woods in a depressive state, with simple animated effects for flavor. I first shot and directed Liam for an entire day in the local hiking path, using my own on hand equipment to work arounds the many issues with outside filming. Afterwards, I painstakingly edited in Adobe Premiere all the footage corresponding with the rhythm and lyrics of the song. Once that was approved by Liam, I brought the edit into Toon Boom Harmony to add simple but effective line art illustrations reminiscent of grudgey textbook doodles, fitting with the music genre.

After the final version was approved by Liam and I was already payed, I noticed a minor error that he missed in his review. I was the only one who seemed to know or care about the mistake, but I fixed it anyways. This project taught me valuable lessons in developing and evolving a collaborative work that will aid me in my professional career.
